How To Stop Having A Meeting Just To Have A Meeting
Do you know what's worse than having a meeting?
Having a meeting to have a meeting.
Having a meeting does not make you an entrepreneur, a leader or a boss-babe or whatever the hell you want to be.
An entrepreneur gets shit done.
A leader fills people with purpose to achieve certain tasks.
A true boss-babe capitalises on time, she doesn't waste it having a meeting to look impressive or tell people that she had sooo many meetings that day.
BE PRODUCTIVE, DON'T BE BUSY.
Productivity - the effectiveness of productive effort, especially in industry, as measured in terms of the rate of output per unit of input.
Busy - having a great deal to do.
When you are productive you are producing something that can be measured by the level of your output. In other words, putting in the work and doing what needs to be done.
When you are busy, you have a lot to do but that doesn't necessarily mean you are doing those things. You just have a lot on your plate but are you getting rid of whatever is on your plate or just letting it sit there and go stale?
A lot of meetings occur because it's routine or something to tick off the list.
I'd rather cancel the meeting and let everyone who would have been there get on with what they need to do.
And do you want to know some of the worst meetings I see on a day to day basis?
People rocking up to the gym for a workout.
No workout plan.
No objectives.
No passion.
No intensity.
NO PURPOSE.
Think about it for a second.
Technically, every time we step into the gym, we are having a meeting with our health and fitness.
So treat it like a meeting!
- Whats the ROI (return on investment)?
- What's the plan (workout plan, nutrition plan)?
- What outcomes do you want from it (strength, muscle building, weight loss, power)?
- What can others do to help (coach, nutritionist, gym buddy, support group of family/friends)?
- How long is the meeting (what's the duration of your workout)?
- How many meetings are needed on a weekly basis (how many days a week will you train)?
Stop wasting time, money and energy on useless meetings.
