"Don't Think Of A Purple Cow" 🐮 #moo
Since lockdown has begun, Kiki and I have been walking almost every day.
And every time we go for a walk, I over hear the same conversations.
"Did you hear what Gladys [our premier] said?".
"Did you hear that lockdown..."
"Did you hear about the side effects of Pfizer..."
It's consuming us.
3 conversations in a row were about how construction was shutting down for two weeks as that was the latest press relaese
What the media put in front of us, we focus on.
Yes, news is informative, I GET THAT 🤡
But I also think it's a way to control the way society thinks and behaves.
If I told you not to think about a purple cow, what would you think about?
...
A purple cow 🐄
As important as it is to know the latest COVID update on statistics and restrictions, we have to be even more careful what stories we are telling ourselves because the story we tell ourself is literally what we focus on.
Here's an example, when I'm teaching someone how to squat, I don't tell them to look at the ground because if they look at the ground they are more likely to push forward and fall on their face. A good cue to use is to keep "eyes up", so that when they squat up, they are looking where they are going.
Our body follows where our focus lies.
I completely understand that life is very abnormal at the moment and there is every excuse in the book to cruise and worry about what the Premier said about construction closing down but your situation will only change when your focus does.
So join TBA if you're ready to focus on yourself and getting in the best shape of your life.
