300 Sweet Potatoes and 4 Muskets

There are many people that come against me saying that a calorie deficit doesn't work but a keto diet does, a plant based diet does or that F45 works.

The thing is... they are right.

They are 100% right but that doesn't make me wrong.

They are just emotionally attached to that method of creating a calorie deficit because it got them the result they were seeking.

They are confusing the method with the principle.

The principle is the calorie deficit.

The method is whatever helps us create one and comes down one of two things...

1) eating less

2) moving more

If you do one of these two things, you may create a calorie deficit.

If you do both things, you may create a larger calorie deficit than just doing one thing.

Back in the day in New Zealand, the Maori people would trade the Pākehā muskets (weapons) for sweet potatoes (food).

They're trading produce or food for product.

The principle is a payment or an exchange but the method was paying with produce.

They could have also paid with service or valuable information.

The principle stays the same but the method can change.

We still pay for things today but the method is now paying with cash, an eftpos card or an electronic bank transfer through PayPal.
