Why You Shouldn't Worry About The Weather

"Don't wait for sunshine, ride the storm."

Let's look at this for a second on a practical level.

You tell yourself that you are going to go for a run at 6AM.

You fall asleep and wake up at 5:45am.

You pull open the curtains and it's pissing down rain.

You snooze your alarm and roll over.

You miss out on the feeling of doing something that you don't want to do, the endorphin hit of the exercise and the dopamine hit of ticking something off.

You wait for 'sunshine' and avoid the 'storm'.

Now let's look at it on a metaphorical level.

You want to start eating healthy.

So you go to the grocery store and are ready to buy some healthy food.

But you find your favourite seasonal vegetables and fruit aren't in store.

There's no sale on lean cuts of meat and fish is too expensive.

You remember you have a massive week of meetings at work.

So you tell yourself you'll start it next week and give up.

You wait for 'sunshine' and avoid the 'storm'.

You could ride the storm and search for meal prep companies that deliver to your work or reduce the portion sizes that you currently have.

Or even eat some vegetables that you may not love, just for a week.

It's not what you want to do but it's what you have to do if you want to get started and get it done.

There's never a perfect time.

The weathers always against what you want.

It's always more expensive than you thought.

It's certainly harder than you perceive it to be.

But what do you learn and achieve when you wait for 'sunshine'?

Nothing.

And what do you learn from riding the 'storm'?

Everything.

Work ethic.

Overcoming adversity.

Persevering through laziness.

Thinking creatively on the spot.

Risk calculation.

Action over procrastination.

And many, many, many more.

Let's ride this storm together.

"DON'T WAIT FOR SUNSHINE. RIDE THE STORM."
