Why My Mothers Death Was A Positive Thing

It's been a rough week in the email inbox of brock@brockashby.com

I have received an email from a client that has ended an intimate relationship due to betrayal of a best friend of many years.

I have received an email from a client that has had a son threaten his life.

I have received news from a client that her spouse won't support her pursuit of health and fitness.

Though I love receiving these emails because it allows me to understand how I can add real value to my clients life, it stirs me...

I have never understood how bad can happen to such good people.

Just like when I was 12 years old, I never understood why I lost my mum (an amazing woman) to terminal cancer.

Why these [good] people?

Why doesn't bad happen to bad people like murderers and rapists?

I've never understood this and I have come to terms with the fact that I never will.

But hat I do know is that when these bad things happen in our life, whether it directly impacts us, or a loved one, we are left with two decisions...

1) Fold and fall victim.

OR

2) Rise and move forward.

There is no coincidence that some of the most successful people in the world have faced some of the biggest of adversities.

Adversity has the potential to break you but more importantly the potential to propel you.

If my mum didn't die, I wouldn't be doing what I do today.

Regardless of your situation, just know this...

Adversity doesn't define you, it refines you.
