Why You Need To Stop Banging Your Ex
When it comes down to it... it's easy.
It's everything we know we should do but don't do.
If we need to stop smoking, we should stop putting cigarettes in our mouth.
If we need to stop over consuming calories, we should stop putting cheeseburgers in our mouth.
If we need to spend more time with our girlfriend, we should stop seeing 'da boyz' so much.
If we need to stop an unhealthy relationship, we should stop picking up his/her phone calls and insta DM's.
If we need more money, we should stop going on holiday and work on weekends.
IT IS SO SIMPLE.
When we write it down on paper, the solution is so clear.
So why do we do it?
Why do we stuff it up?
We binge eat, we reply to texts and calls when we shouldn't, we don't exercise, we smoke, we drink, we hang out with 'da boyz' when we shouldn't, we spend money when we know we should be doing the exact opposite.
WHY?
We are suckers for instant gratification and buckers for delayed gratification.
The instant gratification that he taste of the cheeseburger brings us is greater than the delayed gratification of the 10kg that we want to lose in three months.
The instant gratification of watching Game Of Thrones on the couch is greater than the delayed gratification of the 60min workout that will make us more active.
The instant gratification of having sex with our ex is greater than the delayed gratification of finding a fulfilling relationship with someone that is more compatible.
The art of achieving a desired goal is surpassing the satisfaction of instant gratification for the greater fulfilment that delayed gratification brings.
