Scrubbing Shit And Singing On Stage

When there is something on the line you are more willing to succeed.

Even go beyond that... exceed.

Many times in my life I have had to follow these words and back myself.

I have to warn you, It’s not glamorous backing yourself but well worth it.

At 18 years old I left Christchurch for Auckland in pursuit of a better future for myself in a Honda Civic that my dad bought for $500.

It had rusty window wipers and non electrical windows that got stuck when they rolled down.

The car had no warrant, no registration and an oil leak.

A hefty fine if you get pulled over by the cops.

My dad gave me $800 as a departing gift and as soon as I got to Auckland by over 24 hours of driving and a ferry, I lost that $800 to fixing the car 🥶

I slept on the couch (oversized coffee table with couch cushions on top) of my friends for two months while I got a job and my own place in Auckland.

Before I lived in Auckland when I lived in Christchurch, I was a full time singer.

I was signed to Sony, on TV and performing all over NZ in concerts, shows and festivals.

Looked like I was living the ‘good life’ but in reality when I wasn’t singing, I was cleaning my church for $150.

Yes... I had to scrub the shit off toilets 💩

When I moved to Auckland I had 3 jobs to get by. I was a personal trainer, did the odd modelling and TV presenting job and sold Jandals (thongs or flip flops) for Havaianas.

When I lived in Gold Coast I was a personal trainer starting at 4:30am - 12:30pm then a singer from about 8pm - midnight and worked in my brothers food truck when I could.

That was more to be a helping hand to my brother though, not for the money.

Then when I first moved to Sydney I had 3 jobs. A personal trainer and a dish washer at two different hotels.

Currently, I’m living in Sydney and have invested all my capital I made from one to one coaching into the new Team Brock Ashby website.

Left with nothing but enough to fix the bugs that will appear, and have been appearing, on the website.

Putting money for my personal spending in the non-existent box.

When I was younger I really wanted money to be rich.

But now I just want money to fuel the things I want to create to help people.... my website.

I’m back to the position I was in Christchurch, Auckland, Gold Coast and when I first arrived in Sydney.

No capital but a heart full of passion, a mindset full of solutions and a work ethic that will never perish.

No one will believe in you, if you don’t believe in yourself.

I’m not asking for sympathy, not at all.

I’m asking for you to believe in yourself.

Because if you don’t believe in yourself, others will never believe in you.

And if you have nothing on the line, you won’t commit to what you’re doing whole heartedly.

Whether you’re trying to lose weight, build muscle or develop healthy habits and perfect training technique.

Believe you can and you will be able to.

The greater the investment, the greater the risk AND THE RETURN.

Don’t forget that part, a whole lot do.
