"Itβs much more important to start than it is to be smart."
Scott Pape, The Barefoot Investor
I'm reading The Barefoot Investor, which is an Australian finance book but this quote reminded me of every person that wants to start working out and dieting but can't find the motivation.
Don't bother trying to find motivation.
It's a waste of time.
So many "motivational gurus" and "life coaches" dance around the idea that you need to actually start.
Just start.
Why?
1) When you start, you begin to make the habit that you have fallen out of, back into a habit.
2) When you start, you open yourself up to get results. When you get results, you get motivated. When you get motivated, you begin to take action more naturally as motivation is high.
3) When you start, you change the focus of your energy to solutions, not problems.
I'm not saying to just start and not to worry about being smart.
You need to have a smart workout program, diet and plan of attack.
But if you focus on being smart before you start, you'll overthink the process and paralyse yourself.
Start, then be smart.
