More Than Just A Cookie
Today a client of mine came to training exhausted...
Dragging his feet on the floor, hunched over and beaten.
"Are you alright?", I asked.
"I’m starving and sleepy", he said.
He usually gives me a 10/10 every session... today was a pathetic 5/10.
Smashing him in the gym and telling him to push through wouldn’t be productive. I tried that, no positive response.
I’m never going to have a client give me less than 100%, so I thought to myself... How can I help him?
I can’t do anything about last nights sleep...
An idea came!
*lightbulb moment*
I told him to meet me at the lying leg curl machine and that I’d be right with him.
I sprinted downstairs, grabbed my wallet, bought a protein cookie for him and sprinted back upstairs.
I threw the cookie at him and told him to eat it.
He looked at me with complete happiness.
He scoffed his face with the cookie and smashed the rest of his session.
We ended up tackling a total of 3 PB’s (Personal Bests). One in single arm dumbbell over head press, one in Incline dumbbell chest press and one I. Single leg lying leg curl.
WE WON!
If you’re doing the same old thing and getting the same old results (NONE), maybe you also need a refreshment.
