How I Built 21kg Of Muscle Without Steroids 💪
My personal body transformation is a crazy one.
When I was 20 years old, I weighed 69kgs. To give you a bit of background, that's 21kg's lighter than I am today,
I looked lean, strong and healthy but I was far from it.
I was only eating 1500 calories which is probably less than what a little girl would eat.
I was training twice a day and doing cardio on top of that (in a rubbish bag to try and sweat more because I thought that meant I was burning more fat)
I wasn’t eating carbs because I thought they made you fat
I wasn’t eating fat because I thought fat made you fat.
I was sleeping 4-6 hours per day because I thought "you can sleep when you’re dead".
I said no to friends inviting me out for dinner or to go to the movies because I was afraid of people "getting ahead of me" in my career and saw hanging out with people as something that was slowing me down.
I’d also say no to dinner because I was unsure what was on the menu and scared of going over my calories.
I was over-restricting my calories so much that all I could think about was my next meal. I was fixated.
Even though I trained 2-3x per day, my sessions were completely $hit because my energy was so low.
I was so scared of sugar and fructose, I wouldn’t even eat fruit… FRUIT FFS!!!
FRUIT!
On the outside I looked lean, strong and happy but on the inside I was far from it.
I was under-eating, over-training and ultimately feeling average but was so focused I though i felt great.
But truth is, I was doing almost everything wrong and it doesn’t have to be that hard to get the result you want if you get it right from the start
Today I’m eating more than double what I was eating before (from 1500 calories to 3000+ calories), weigh an extra 21kg of muscle and absolutely love what I eat on a day to day basis.
I only train 5x per week and I feel stronger than ever before (even though I’m training at home in lockdown with my bench and dumbbells which hopefully ends on Monday).
Im not fixated by food and day dreaming about my next meal anymore, which is part of the progress that I'm happiest about!
My energy is awesome and I can proudly say that I don’t struggle with cyclical binge eating that I used to struggle with as a young adult because I no longer over restrict my diet and feel the need to over compensate with a flood of calories.
Im not scared of carbs, fruit or sugar and I no longer do endless amounts of cardio with a bloody rubbish bag on because I know that’s not how you burn fat.
I’m not exactly where I want to be but I’m definitely further along than I used to be when I started this journey and it is all down to finally getting it right.
This didn't happen overnight but was a worthwhile journey.
