Wednesday Wisdom: Why You Need To Think About How You Will Leave This Earth...

Hey mate,

There are many things that we can do with our time.

We can watch Succession, play cards with our wife, go for a drive to see our Nana, book flights to go away on a Europe holiday or go and grab a drink of water.

When you think about the gigantic amount of decisions that we have to make daily, how do we choose what decisions to make and how to spend the only thing in life we cannot back?

I believe, we must consider our death.

We may die when we're 70, 80 or 90 (or anywhere in between, before or after), and then work back from when you will die.

You can then divide what years you have left and categorise into categories such as:

  • my 30's

  • my 40's

  • the beginning of the children era

  • my lazy old fart years

  • my building business years

Whatever you want to label your life as, or categorise yourself into, I recommend you do it to get clarity as to what is important to you now and in the future.

With this clear perspective you can now weigh up if you should have beers with the boys on Friday or see your Nana.

You can see the boys any given Friday for the next 20-30 years for beers but Nana only has 1-2 years left because she's 90 and in a retirement home.

So you'd go see Nana.

You can do the exact same right now with the life you live today.

Should you scroll on your phone for an extra 30mins or should you play hide and seek with your kid at the park.

You can scroll any day of the week but your kid will only be a kid until they're about 12 years old.

Should you start taking your diet seriously or keep eating whatever floats in front of you and whatever special Dominos pizza is having tonight.

Should you go to the gym or go for a wine with a colleague?

Should you sign up to Team Brock Ashby Programs and prioritise your body transformation with expert guidance or keep wasting time in the gym going in circles?

There's no right or wrong answers but hopefully with this concept of perspective you can begin to prioritise what matters now and what matters in the near future and beyond!

Much love 💪
