Why I Said No To Love Island

I recently had a certain women slide into my DM's.

Not the usual slide but a slide is a slide.

It was an invitation to audition for Love Island...

I've never seen an episode (honest) but apparently it's a reality TV show where people go onto an island, have sex, cheat, argue, gossip and are somehow rewarded with prize money.

I'm no stranger to reality TV shows though, as you may know.

Most recently I was on The Voice Australia #TeamKelly.

Before that I use to be a TV presenter on two TV Shows called 'The 4.30 Show' and 'GRID'.

Previous to that I was on The X-Factor in New Zealand with a boyband called Moorhouse.

The difference between Love Island and my experience on TV is... Love Island has nothing to do with what I love.

Sure, I love woman but I don't think Love Island is the most noble way to show my love for woman ;)

My following would definitely grow but would it grow for the reasons I want it to? Probably not.

My dad is the happiest person I know.

He's wanted to be a truck driver ever since he was 9 years old.

He's over 60 years old today, still working as a truck driver and still the happiest man alive.

WHY?

He sticks to what he loves and does only that.

Simple words my dad always said to me.

"Do what makes you happy."

I've done exactly that because I've seen my dad's life. I've seen the pay-off.

The happiest man I know.

Not many people I know wake up at 4am, sing and play Ukelele til work at 6am, finish at 6pm, make dinner, go to the bar with mates and do his life with as much passion and happiness as he does.

I've taken what my dad said to me as a young boy and made it my own...

"Do what makes you happy and turn it into your career."

Every morning I wake up, there's no snooze, there's passion.

There's no negativity, there's optimism.

There's no thoughts of 'what if?', only thoughts of 'what's possible?'.

And no amount of followers, fame, money and sexy girls on a tropical [love] island can change that.

There's no substitute for happiness.

I can't promise an island of hot bikini girls and waxed action men in board shorts but I can promise you an 8 week program that will bring you what my dad taught me is the most important thing in life.

Happiness.
