Waiting For The Promotion That Will Never Come

Yesterday was August 22nd, 2019.

My best mates 33rd birthday.

I booked myself a return flight to Melbourne from Sydney for the weekend to celebrate with him and deliver his present.

Why did I do it?

It is only a 33rd birthday, that's not a special number.

My present cost less than $100, some would say that's insignificant.

3 books. Didn't even buy a card for him (I wrote it on the inside cover of each book).

WHY DID I DO IT?

I have seen too many people take too many things for granted and end up losing.

Never, I mean never, take anything for granted.

Don't wait for a birthday to give someone a gift.

Don't wait for someone to pass away to be nice to their family.

Don't wait for an anniversary to buy flowers.

Don't wait for a promotion to shout your best friend dinner.

Don't wait for a housewarming to host people you love.

Don't wait for a wedding to write a speech and tell them how much they mean to you.

Why can't we do this every day?

I never want to take the people closest to me for granted, or anything in that manner.

If you never get promoted, will you still buy dinner for them?

If the wedding never comes, will you still tell them how you feel?

If the health scare never comes, will you still look after your health and fitness?
