A Soul Like Josh
Went to a concert to see The Teskey Brothers on Friday night.
If you haven't heard of them, you can click here to listen to them playing live music.
I haven't been to a live concert for a long time but this was something special.
The lead singer Josh Teskey sings with so much soul it makes you want to cry on the spot just because you can feel the passion, pain and intention he sings with.
The final song after the encore was the one that really got me though.
They all stepped away from their instruments and were left standing, clapping and chanting:
"Hold me, don’t hold me down
Carry me, but keep my feet on the ground
I’ll hold ya, I won’t hold ya down
Carry ya, but keep your feet on the ground"
They were chanting it with the crowd and we felt unified.
There was no superstar and audience disconnect.
Then the lead singer came and stood in the crowd and sang his heart out with all of us as we surrounded him and sung together.
No amplification, no boundaries.
Just true heart and soul.
He wasn't singing for money.
He wasn't singing for fame.
He wasn't even singing to be heard.
He was singing because it made him happy and wanted to make everyone feel good.
When he stripped everything back (instruments, microphone, the stage) he just wanted to be happy and share that moment with everyone in the crowd.
I bet he doesn't struggle with motivation to get up and perform.
I bet he doesn't question for one second why he's doing it.
The same can be with our fitness journeys.
You see people training their ass off, sweat dripping off their nose, focus oozing from the looks they give the clock as they jump back and forth from exercises.
They definitely aren't second guessing their goals and ambition.
If you have a goal, you have a purpose.
