I Got Sucked In
Avengers was an amazing movie.
A real game changer, 3 hour game changer breaking records all over the world.
At the root of it all though, it is just like another movie.
It makes you feel happy, confused, angry, motivated, like you’re going to cry, like you’re their friend and the bad guys put up a good fight but the good guys always win (or girls for the females out there).
But what made this movie so special?
Was it the massive line up of stars they had in the cast?
Was it the massive marketing budget they had?
Was it the combination of all the superhero stories colliding?
Was it the blue eyes of Chris Hemsworth?
Was it Scarlett Johansson?
It was all of the above!
Sounds familiar right?
Sounds a lot like the fitness industry to me.
People trying to suck you in to the latest "diet", "supplement" or "training" fad with all the tricks in the book for a profit. Marketing, celebrities, testimonials etc etc...
And just like every movie has pretty much the same theme, every training program, diet or supplement product out there ultimately tell the same story.
Lift weights, do cardio (if you want), eat less, move more and you’ll drop your body fat and build muscle.
I haven’t seen one Avengers movie in my life but I went to see it because I saw it on the billboards and heard it was an amazing 3 hours that I wouldn’t forget.
I got sucked in.
Just like people with little to no education seeing sponsored ads, celebrities and Instagram posts talking about the latest "thing" of the industry and buying.
They get sucked in too.
The more educated we become, the better decisions we can make FOR OURSELVES.
If we know a calorie deficit is all we need for fat loss, we don’t need to buy a fat burner because we know we just need to move more and eat less.
If we know all we need is progressive overload to occur in a program to build muscle, get stronger and get gains, we don’t need to buy the cookie cutter program from the bodybuilder selling a dream body, he achieved by taking steroids for a couple of years.
The more we know, the more we grow. The more we grow, the more we can say no.
Yes I am promoting my website in an email taking a dig at fitness programs but I know mine is evidence based, result bearing, genuine, 100% customized and I have seen it work time and time again ;)
