You Don't Know How Big It Is Until You Measure It...
While I've been editing and uploading my videos I have realised three things:
1) I always say 'so' for no reason.
2) I always make this weird clicking noise with my mouth before I speak.
3) I'd rather listen to nails scratching a chalkboard than listen to my voice anymore.
The only reason I know this is because I have been editing my educational videos for the new website.
I've recorded myself and watched my behaviour over and over again.
In other words I have measured my progress and stayed accountable to the record.
And the records results are that I say 'so', click my mouth and am sick of hearing my voice.
Now if I bring this back into the fitness world...
If we're not measuring our progress in anyway, we are doomed for long term success.
We need to stay accountable to something, or someone.
I've been victim to not measuring my progress when I know that I'm not actually making progress.
I stop following my program.
I stop tracking my calories.
I stop recording because I know that I have failed myself and my goals.
It's hard to look at yourself and acknowledge that you have made no progress.
The truth hurts... but the truth only hurts because it shows us exactly where we have made our mistakes.
You can't measure, what you haven't recorded.
And the only way to get better is to measure it against your previous records.
Whether it is your weight, your measurements, your strength, your confidence levels or photos of your physique.
Record yourself and face the truth.
If you've made progress, pat yourself on the back.
If you've made no progress, find out why.
