Why I Turned Down The Best Company In The Fitness Industry
Earlier this year I received an Instagram DM that had me pretty excited.
It was from one of the biggest companies in the fitness industry.
Asking me to be a part of their brand and represent them.
They said that they loved my vibe and the content I made on Instagram.
I was quite chuffed to be honest.
I got back to them and we started going back and forth via email.
What they proposed me to me was... embarrassing.
*Let the plot twist begin*
They asked me to bend over backwards with posts, stories, photoshoots and expos for a compensation that wouldn't excite an eight year old.
It's appalling.
My baby, the fitness industry, that I care for so much was being disrespected.
This should not be a place where we monetise lost and confused people on social media to drive a purchase.
This should be a place where we can truly change peoples lives..
AND IT IS!
I've seen it for myself!
We can bring confidence to others that they have never felt.
Create beautiful wedding photos that people will remember for life.
Fix peoples sleep problems they've had since childhood.
Educate people on how to deal with stress.
Give people workouts to build muscle and live in skin that they love themselves in!
This is what the fitness industry should be about.
I understand we all need to make a living...
But making it by short changing instagram 'fitness influencers' to drive sales is not the way to do it.
Do it with dignity, that's the least the people deserve.
The fitness industry can be a dark place, like any industry trying to make profits.
But it can also be an amazing place to get life changing results and grow your knowledge.
So yeah, I turned them down and sleep very easy at night knowing I make a living making a difference and not making a mess of this industry that has the potential to impact peoples lives in a way, THAT I THINK, cannot be replicated.
Whether it's 200g lost or 2kg lost, your transformation matters to me.
Watch out for the 'quick buck' traps on instagram ;)
And if you see anything dodgy, email me.
I got you.
