Life Lessons From a 2 Year Old

Working on the website in the lab today with James (he’s killing it) literally coding all day.

Started at 9:30am wrapping up at 7pm and his daughter comes in around 5pm. Her name is Willow.

Hair in pig tails, snotty nose and a dress (super cute) she says, "I have something for you Bwock".

Bwock = Brock. That’s just how she says it, you grammar fanatics out there! #relax

She comes in with a big purple scribble on the page. "I drew you a rainbow!"

"I have something else for you Bwock."

This time she comes in with a big red scribble which apparently was the sun.


This last one killed me though, I really couldn’t breathe.

There’s times where you say you can’t breathe as a saying but I was literally gasping for air!

She comes into the room... again... but this time butt naked.

Her mum Emma, tells her to get some knickers on.

She turns around and looks me in the eyes and says, "I want Brock to put my knickers on".

I die.

D-E-A-D

Dead in stitches.

That’s the second time I have met her and now I’m being asked to put her knickers on. Sheesh.

Apart from being the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long, long time. I learnt a lot about the instincts of human behaviour.

As a baby, we are generous and trusting when we know someone is a good person. By default we trust good people. We see the nice in people too, not the bad.

Willow has offered me something that has cost her her time (the most valuable thing on earth) and trusted me to dress her after only meeting her twice

How do we somehow lose that in life?

I mean, I experience it first hand...
