The Only Voice That Can Kick Me Out Of My Own House

At 8 o'clock I looked down at my Fitbit to see a pitiful 5,000 steps.

I'd just finished dinner.

I worked out before dinner.

It was 8 o'clock, did I mention that?

I couldn't be stuffed doing any physical activity apart from taking my ass into the shower, then into bed.

But a small nagging voice told me something as I peeped down at my Fitbit.

"You need to walk 10k before sleeping."

I pretended I didn't hear it but felt like a fraud ignoring it.

So I put on my runners and ran 5,000 steps to get to 10k steps as I write this e-mail.

Not five kilometres, or even five minutes. I just put an audiobook on and ran to tickoff my steps. I never would have run outside at 8 o'clock at night. Well to be really honest, I wouldn't have done it at any time. But I set myself a goal and p…

Not five kilometres, or even five minutes.

I just put an audiobook on and ran to tickoff my steps.

I never would have run outside at 8 o'clock at night.

Well to be really honest, I wouldn't have done it at any time.

But I set myself a goal and promised myself I would do it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Success is
not doing what you want to do when you want to do it.
It's doing what you need to do when you don't want to do it.

I know I only ran 5,000 steps but small habits accumulate over time to big victories.

I never would have done 5,000 steps if I didn't have my "10k a day" goal.

So if you have no goal let me set one for you.

Your new goal is to transform your body to the best it's ever been in 8 weeks.

I'm the annoying nagging voice that will say, "Hey, 10k a day."

Or, "Hey, calorie deficit."

Or most likely, "Hey, get your shit together! We only got 8 weeks!"
