First Gym Sesh In A While
Gyms are finally open in Sydney and I had my first workout in the gym with Kiki.
I eased in to my first workout and I'll ease in to my first week too.
The second week probably won’t be anything too life transforming either.
The real magic will happen in the third or fourth week as I drop the RIR (reps in reserve) and ramp up the intensity.
Treating myself like a beginner/intermediate lifter will allow me to adapt to where I am (not as strong as I was before COVID-19) and progress further than I was before.
I'll use these couple of weeks to focus on the form, tempo and mind muscle connection of the exercise, knowing that getting stronger and building muscle will be much easier when that stuff is sorted out.
I recommend you do the same.
You're not the same person you were before.
You just don't have the same ability.
That doesn't mean you're not capable of it, just not now.
You're a blank canvas.
You have an opportunity to potentially undo any bad habits you had with your lifting.
If you were constantly hitting plateaus or stuck in one for a long time, look at the opening of gyms as a great way to focus on and master the basics.
Breathing.
Knees over toes.
Elbows in tight.
Heels into the ground.
That is where the real results lie... mastering the basics.
Just like yesterday when I said, "to change who you are, change what you do", you need to change your workouts, diet and your lifestyle, to change your results.
And it could all start with the 8 week body transformation program.
