Get Your Pecker Out Of My Face
Second day at the gym.
Here I am minding my own business doing pull ups beside Kiki.
A guy with leggings on, no shorts... let that soak in.
Picture that...
Right now come back.
Anyway, he comes up to me and asks me if I was training there.
I said yes, as I was.
He said it was a bit weird if I do pull ups in front of him while he's squatting.
I disagreed, I said I wasn't in his way and that I was there before him.
I was opposite him doing pull ups on a bar before he even arrived.
Finding a free squat rack is just as rare as finding someone without whitened teeth in Bondi, so I wasn't giving up my squat rack just so he could squat with an empty rack in front of him for whatever reason he wanted it.
If I was there first, he can wait until I'm finished.
But the thing is, he didn't need to.
There was about four or five other free squat racks.
And to top that off, he could use the one he grabbed in the first place.
I was about three metres away from him.
The guy next to me was in hysterics at the guy trying to kick me off my pull up bar I was at before he was there.
I stood my ground and he left after he asked me if I was using two other squat racks as a snarky comment.
I let him leave and got back into my pull ups.
Why am I telling you this?
Gyms are opening.
Don't be a dick to others.
It's the perfect time to set a new gym culture.
Not continue to keep it the way it was.
It's time to put dumbbells and weight plates back.
It's time to stop "tough guy-ing" people around equipment and gym floors.
I don't care if you're a client of mine, going to be or never will be.
Some people struggle enough just to get the gym.
Some people get a panic attack just swiping their gym membership card near the door.
They don't need someone with their pecker staring at them, telling them to get off equipment they're already on to make a statement.
Try a smile.
Try a word of encouragement.
Try a hi-5.
Also... if you're a male.
And you're wearing leggings.
Put shorts over top.
Thanks 🙃
