What I Learnt From Wrestling In The Skip
When I was younger, my brother and I used to play softball.
My father played too and my mum used to score for dad's team.
My Dad's team was called the Krushers and was filled with great players that used to play at the top level of Softball in New Zealand.
So great, the Krushers would win most of their games a couple beers deep.
If they got struck-out, they'd have to pay $5 too 😂
After their games we'd all head back to the pub, where Mum and dad would catch up with all the players and partners of the players and I would play with all the players kids.
We used to sneak outside the pub and play in the skip.
Yes.
The skip.
If you don't know what the skip is, it's the massive rubbish bin outside where the pub would put their rubbish and recycling.
We would put the flattened cardboard boxes on top of the black rubbish bags, so it was soft to land but we didn't get dirty.
The kids and I would play wrestling, we'd do forward flips and tricks in the air and land on the cardboard boxes as if it were a foam pit.
Imitating the WWE Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble in our version of the ring.
We loved it.
We would wrestle in the skip!
When you look at it from afar, it seems pretty gross but those are some the funnest and funniest memories I have with the softball kids.
We didn't need the fancy stuff to have a good time.
An iPad, a Nintendo switch, a DVD and a big box of toys.
Forget that sh*t, all we needed was each other and the drive to have a good time.
Just like you don't need the fancy 'fat burning supplements' to lose weight.
You just need a calorie deficit and the drive to achieve your goal.
You don't need a fancy workout program where you're training twice per day with one fasted cardio session and one weights session with dropsets on every set to build muscle.
You just need to work hard in the gym, try to lift heavier each session and the drive to achieve your goal.
The fancy, airy fairy stuff doesn't get you any better results than mastering the basics.
Actually, it doesn't even come close.
Like trying to replace wrestling in the skip with sitting on your ass playing a Nintendo switch.
You can't beat it.
Which is why the Team Brock Ashby 8 Week Body Transformation Program is all about mastering the basics.
How to train with good technique.
How to eat to achieve your physique goals.
How to change your lifestyle to be more physically active and so much more.
I promise I won't make you jump in the skip 🤣
