Later? You May As Well Say Never
You know when you say "I'll do it later", when do you do it?
When does "later" exist?
I'll tell you where, in Neverland.
Later never happens.
"I'll clean my shoes later", they still haven't been cleaned.
"I'll start my diet later this year when I'm ready", never happened.
"I'll train with Brock later when I can be bothered", you're still not bothered.
I've made this promise to myself.
Every time I get asked to do something (that I agree on), I do it straight away.
Kiki will call me and ask me to bring her shoes when we're going to Shell Harbour for the weekend, so I get up, grab the shoes and put them by the door so I don't forget.
This way:
1) I've done it now (not later)
2) I don't have to think about it anymore.
A client will ask me to renew their one on one coaching with me, so I send the questionnaire and the payment request immediately.
Not in a money hungry way (I'm not a shark) but in a prompt and responsive way.
This way:
1) They feel valued as they see how keen I am to have them in Team Brock Ashby and tackle the next 8 weeks together.
2) I've done what I said I would do.
3) I don't have to think about that anymore.
You often forget that when you say you'll do something later, that thing sits in your head and takes up your energy.
In summary, doing something now may seem like effort but that initial effort is less than the effort you have to give "later" in addition with the extra headspace you lose until it's done.
AKA.
Do whatever you think you'll do later, NOW!
