Context Over Content - How It Changed My Life

One of the best books I have read to date is 'The Power of Positive Thinking' by Norman Vincent Peale.

Not so much because of the content of the book but the context of the book.

At the I was reading this book I lost my mum and was soul searching for my purpose in life and the book literally changed my life by changing my perspective.

I needed something to lift my head up and tell me things would be okay.

Hearing that there is always something to be grateful for when I read the book helped me realise that even walking up to breathe is something to be grateful for.

Context trumps content.

Looking back at school now, I wished I did accounting and economics.

At the time I opted for a study period (where I went to the gym and lifted weights with my mates) and Te Reo Maori (where I knew the teacher would never show up, so we would go for a swim in the school pool most days or play games and watch movies).

When someone says they love you and support you, it hits different when they tell you after you have had a long day and feel like giving up.

When someone buys you lunch, it hits different when you couldn't have afforded to pay for it.

Context trumps content.

The content of what sits in the Team Brock Ashby will always be consistent:
- workouts
- nutrition
- educational content
- team support
- successful results
- my strategies and methods

My content won't change.

But your context will.

And whether you're ready now or need to wait until a health scare to tell you to get off your a$$ and make a change.
