If you've been on the daily e-mail list for a while you'll know that every morning I read myself a letter of gratitude most mornings.

Being thankful for everything I have had, have and will have.

But a couple months ago, on a cold winter morning I was short on time and didn't have enough time to read everything (takes me 5-7mins) in time, so I tried something.

"Hey Siri, read my notes on Gratitiude".

I had a reply...

"Okay Brock, here are your notes on Gratitude last edited on... etc etc"

I couldn't believe I just found a life hack!

I used to wake up and structure my mornings around this time but now I could do it on the go with headphones.

I could clean and listen to gratitude.

I could drink coffee and be reminded of how good life is.

I could feed my fish and be thankful for my family back in NZ.

I could even fold some washing and positively affirm my future.

It was so convenient.

Too convenient.

And you know whats dangerous about convenience?

It's too easy.

It's handed to you on a plate.

I was no longer saying it out loud, engraving it in my head, and would miss a few lines here and there of what Siri was saying to me.

Sometimes it would even become background noise.

The short cut will never be the real thing.

It didn't require anything from me.

I was just in autopilot.

It didn't require my full attention, phone down and in the zone declaring what I want in my life.

I didn't feel too grateful after it to be honest.

Just like how being on my daily e-mail list, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube will never replace being a Team Brock Ashby Member.

You get the idea but will never reap the full benefits.

Experience the real thing, no shortcuts.

"THE SHORTCUT WILL NEVER BE THE REAL THING."
