Motivation Monday: Toddlers Know Something We Don't
My wife and I are one of the last to have kids amongst our circle of friends and family.
We have our daughter, who's still a newborn, and most couples around us have a toddler.
Just watching them try and walk, climb and jump gave me the idea of how we should approach the pursuit of our goals.
I could call it the "Crawling Toddler Progress Model" or something but ultimately, it's this...
1. Try to crawl
2. Keep trying and failing until you succeed.
3. Try to walk.
4. Keep trying and failing until you succeed.
5. Try to climb.
6. Keep trying and failing until you succeed.
If you analyse what toddlers and babies do it's pretty simple and summed up very well with this quote:
"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." – Henry Ford
Try. Fail. Adjust.
Try. Fail. Adjust.
Try. Fail. Adjust.
Repeat, repeat, repeat.
I know you may feel like you need to read a self help book, put on a podcast or ask a mentor but the reality is, you just need to give it a shot like a crawling toddler does to walking.
That's how you went from on your back to crawling to walking to climbing and jumping.
And that same progress model can get you from 80kg to 70kg.
That same progress model can get you from 60kg hip thrust to 100kg hip thrust.
And the beauty is, it's so simple, even a baby can understand it (so you have no excuses)!
So take action today.
Stumble and fail into success like you did as a toddler.
