Facts Friday: What Chew Doing?

Hey mate,

Let's talk about your mastication.

Mastication is a more technical word for chewing, or grinding food into smaller more easily digested pieces of food.

You may think you're just chewing your food but what you're really doing is tapping into one of the fat loss tips that is a bit 'out of the box'.

Check out the highlighted section of the abstract below 👇

"Compared with fifteen chews, chewing forty times per portion resulted in lower hunger (P= 0·009), preoccupation with food (P= 0·005) and desire to eat (P= 0·002)."

Chew your food more and you'll be less hungry, less obsessed with food and have less desire to seek out food.

This also lends itself to the idea that drinking your calories are less filling and will probably lend you to consume more calories. That's why if you want to gain weight, you want to drink your calories but if you want to drop weight, you're better off eating your calories and chewing it a bit more than you already do.

I know it's a weird tip but give it a go and add that as a tool in the toolbox to your fat loss journey.
