Facts Friday: Fasting Your Food, Slowing Your Strength
Hey mate,
There has been a new study released in 2023 in regards to fasting.
Instead of you trying to read the study let me break it down for you in a simple format:
40 people participated in a study whilst doing Ramadan.
20 men trained in a fasted (after not eating all day or drinking water) state.
20 men trained in a fed state.
The training was whole body resistance training four times per week.
The 20 men that trained in a fasted state had similar hypertrophy results to the men that trained in a fed state.
The 20 men that trained in a fed state built more strength than the 20 men in a fasted state.
So what does this mean?
This lines up with what I have thought for a long, long time.
From personal experience and seeing how clients react when training first thing in the morning before any food in their stomach.
You just won't be as strong.
