Monday Motivation: Who Is Your Reverse Role Model
Happy Monday team,
There is an idea out there called the Reverse Role Model.
Have you ever heard of it? I hope not because I'm just about to explain it.
The reverse role model is the direct opposite of a role model. As opposed to emulating what they do, you do the opposite of what they do.
For example, if you wanted to be a body builder, Arnold Schwarzenegger could be your role model and your Uncle Geoff that is overweight and doesn't lift could be your Reverse Role Model.
If you wanted to be financially free, you may see Oprah Winfrey as an inspiration and Role Model and your Aunty Linda who can't seem to overcome her gambling addiction and is always asking you for money could be your Reverse Role Model.
This is how I actually operate.
I can't say I have too many role models in life but I do have a lot of people that I do not want to be like.
Kind of like how it is easier to say what foods you don't like than the foods you most like.
Or how it's easy to say you'd never wear something but struggle to define what you would actually wear!
That is how my brain works and it has motivated me to get to where I am today.
You may not have a mentor, an encouraging family or opportunities to express yourself and challenge yourself but we all have environments and whether positive or negative, we can draw from it.
If you're struggling to find inspiration around you, that is fine. Look at the things and people that don't inspire you and use that as fuel to get to where you want to be.
Hope that helps to bring you some motivation this Monday!
