Facts Friday: Should You Eat Your Veges Or Meat First?
Today, I'm sending Facts Friday on a Tuesday.
This is in regards to what order you should eat your meals in.
There is a bit of a debate that in order to help prevent Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), we should be consuming foods in a certain order...
Vegetables
Protein
Fat
Carbs
The reason we're told this is because it's meant to decrease post-meal elevations in blood glucose.
So let me give you the long and short of it in a nice summarised paragraph from a research review that I read monthly...
"As the collective evidence stands, specific sequencing of food in attempt to improve glycemic control is unnecessary, at best; it’s a prime example of missing the forest for the trees. At worst, food sequencing breeds a pathological obsession with the micromanagement of eating behavior. The focus is better placed on achieving a high-quality diet (sufficient protein, fiber, and a predominance of whole and minimally refined foods), maintaining physical fitness through exercise and activity, and not overconsuming total calories by the end of the day (or the week)."
I really hate trying to over simplify fitness but sometimes, this is the case.
People, often bloody fitness influencers 'fear monger' others into buying their product or hanging on their word, as if they were a god.
I know this email may not directly relate to you but many people are afraid of getting T2D and you can cross the specific order of the meal off the list, for things to worry about.
