Monday Motivation: Oil Leaks, Being Broke & Selling Thongs

After the earthquakes hit Christchurch in 2011, I decided to leave Christchurch in the pursuit of 'bigger things'.

I packed my entire life, which wasn't much to be fair, into my rusty Honda Civic hatchback with no warrant or rego and headed off for Auckland to become a superstar.

The oil leak was so bad I had to stop every 2 hours to put a whole tub of oil in the car.

If I was to get pulled over, I would have had a fine too big for me to even make a dent in.

I was broke, technically without a home and broke.

I arrived in Auckland and had to spend all of ky money on fixing the Honda Civic for $800.

I slept on a friends couch for about 2-3 months (longer than he wanted). The bed was beside the dishwasher, so you can imagine the type of quality sleep I was getting 😂

I worked a job selling jandals/thongs to get by and made music and read self help books in my spare time.

So why am I telling you this?

On the outside, I was broke, lost, sleeping on a mates couch, without family, without friends and didn't know what I wanted to be.

But on the inside, I was happy.

"Disposition is more important than position."

I couldn't have cared less where i was because where I was going was what was making me happy.

The journey, the climb, the ups and downs.

And even though my music/tv/modelling career was short lived and kinda failed, the journey to go from where i started from to where I ended up developed my character.

The same goes for your fitness journey.

Your trajectory is what matters, not where you are NOW.

You might be overweight, unfit and without much muscle mass.

That's fine because from here, you have a decision.

Decision A) Beat yourself up and struggle to make progress on your own.

Decision B) Focus on where you're heading, not where you are, and join Team Brock Ashby for workout programs, nutrition guidance and education to get you to your dream bod.
