Just Get Better ๐ค๐ค๐ค
After BJJ training the other day, I told my Professor that my elbows and biceps are always sore from training.
I asked him, "How can I fix this?"
He looked at me.
Laughed at me.
Then he said, "Just get better."
Not what I wanted to hear ๐
Like, what do you think I've been trying to do for the last 5 weeks lol ๐ญ
Since I'm a beginner, the whitest of white belts with no stripes to my name, I'm literally getting hammered every session.
Fighting for survival every minute of training.
I'm getting stuck on my back, tucking my elbows to my side, trying to hold on to my opponents body to keep them from submitting me and defending my body.
This is pretty much all biceps and that is why my biceps are always sore because I'm tensing them for a straight 90mins.
To put it bluntly, I'm not good enough yet and the better I get the less time I will spend on my back defending and the more time I will spend on top of my opponent attacking.
But for now, this is what I have to go through as a beginner bu as I get better, I'll stop experiencing this frustration with my progress and my elbows.
And the only way to overcome it is by focusing on what I can do to improve my game.
Sounds a lot like me, or maybe you right now, when I first started out as a beginner in the gym.
Frustrated with my progress.
Frustrated with my lower back being sore from leg days.
Frustrated with my body fat staying the same despite how "clean" I was eating.
And how did I overcome these frustrations?
By getting better workout by workout.
By getting better by tracking my calories day in and day out.
By getting better sleep.
By becoming more consistent.
This is how you overcome the frustrations of not getting the results you want, by becoming better.
So if you're frustrated, don't look left or right. Look straight at yourself and ask yourself, can you be better?
