Wednesday Wisdom: How Much Water To Drink Throughout The Day & In Your Workouts 💦
Wisdom Wednesday
Something you may have never known is how much water to drink in a day.
To be honest with you, I haven't known specifically up until recently but let me give you something more specific than the golden guideline that is: drink as much as water as you need to in order to maintain relatively clear urine. Not a deep dark yellow.
So in todays dose of Wednesday Wisdom, I'll be sharing some hydration recommendations to you.
How much water should you drink in a day?
Aim for half an ounce of fluid, per pound of body-weight, per day.
So if you weigh 200lbs like me, that's 100 oz's per day or approximately 3 litres.
How much water should you drink in a workout?
Every 15 minutes, drink your bodyweight in pounds and divide it by 30. The answer to that is how many ounces you should drink every 15mins of the workout.
So if you weigh 200lbs and divide that by 30, you get 6.6 oz's or approximately 200 millilitres.
For a 60min workout in the gym, that's 800 millilitres, and for a 90min Jiu Jitsu training session, that's 1.2 litres.
KEY TIP 💡
If you are to workout, you add the water needed to be consumed in the workout on top of your daily intake.
So if I went to the gym for 75mins, that day I would need my 3 litres as my daily hydration standard and put another 1L on top of that to cover my 75min workout.
You following me? Haha I know it may be confusing but now you have the knowledge you need to ensure you are hydrated throughout the day and your workouts.
