Facts Friday: Filters Are Ruining Us
Hi 👋 This is me and this is me (edited)…
They’re not too different but they’re different enough to slowly skew your perspective as to what is normal and achievable.
The edited me has a bigger chest, bigger arms, bigger lats, smaller waist, smoother skin and is taller.
Most of these traits are desired by many men and it’s easy to edit photos and get engagement for being more desirable, inspirational, motivational or whatever but the truth is… this just adds to the sh*t show that we are seeing online.
Body dysmorphia is growing and I don't think it is any coincidence that the use of social media and screen time is increasing now too.
People use filters to make themselves look better because they have a negative self image. Then they feel better about themselves because they have used the filter but also feel worse because they are relying on the filter. And the cycle repeats in circles towards a downward spiral of low confidence…
Even worse, people use them for financial gain to take advantage of people that may not know better.
I think there is a special place for these people when they go... Anyway, I digress.
The research is pretty clear that social media can be quite a dark place and with the addition of filters, it is very hard to see how this can improve. Check out this study to see the impact of what filters are doing to us...
However, if we all band together and embrace what makes us unique, I think we can all help the online world, which is becoming bigger and bigger, a positive place 💪
I can’t believe we can edit videos now too. It's so hard to tell the difference.
So if you don't want to rely on video editing apps and photoshop to transform your body, hit the button below and get on board my programs and do it the proper way!
